Postgraduate Studies

I have many reasons to continue studying after finishing my degree in Geography. I really like learning new things every day, and I honestly I think that to be a great professional I have to study a lot and specialize in the area that I determine. It will probably be boring to have to study so much, but I think that the knowledge gained is the greatest reward.

As I said in the previous post, I have always been interested in the area of risks in coastal areas, so it might be a good idea to study a course in integrated coastal zone management. This semester I chose an elective from that area and I really liked it. I would study the territorial planning that takes place on the coastal edge and the possible risks that urbanization entails in the proximity of the coast. For the same reason, I would like them to be face to face classes, to be able to go on excursions and learn things better in person, since there are many things that are not equal to theory.

I have been investigating and in Chile there are not many institutions where this postgraduate degree is carried out, in fact the elective's teacher told me that many people have had to travel abroad to specialize in that area, so I'd rather study it in a country that does teach this course, like Spain, because this country is also characterized by carrying out many postgraduate courses related to Geography and they have great prestige. Depending, of course, if I have the money to pay for it haha.

My future job

One of the reasons why I decided to study Geography was to be able to work outdoor, visit places, go to field trips, because I never imagined being locked in four walls doing something that I am passionate about, or if I have to do it, let it be for a short time hahaha.

I would very much like to travel for work, although I think it would be exhausting, but knowing new places and studying them I think would make up for that marriage. I should also consider that I would miss my family a little lol.

At the moment I would like to specialize in coastal zone management, hydrology or climatology. Although, the area of management of natural risks related to the coast draws more attention to me. But that is relative, well, I am close to entering the third year of my career so I still have a lot to know and learn.

Currently I would like to specialize in the area of Physical Geography or in Geographic Information Systems, so I'm thinking of working in Military Geographical Institute, or in government offices such as ONEMI, DGA, CIGIDEN, among others . And when I am close to 60 years old, I would like to do classes at the universities.

Finally, my ideal job would be with a pleasant environment, where my co-workers are committed and responsible, without generating conflicts, because I don't like those things. Also some aspects to consider could be salary, although, I have never aspired to earn millions for my work, I think that I should earn just enough to survive.

I'm a dog lover!

Animals are the best living beings in the world. I definitely consider myself a lover of them, although I have only had the possibility of having dogs as pets, so today I will tell you about dogs because I really consider myself dog lovers.

In the previous post I told you that when I was little I had my first dog, her name was Manuelita. About a year after Manuelita arrived, Duquesa came into my life and accompanied Manuelita. Unfortunately the two of them are no longer with me, I want to think that they are in a better place together, playing and accompanying each other like the sisters they are. Well, I currently have only two dogs, their names are Aquiles and Kyao and I love them very much, they are very funny and they brighten my days.

All animals are wonderful, but I believe that dogs are the best animals in the world, they are affectionate, attentive and give you their unconditional love, without expecting anything in return.

This is why I believe that we should respect the animal ecosystem, it is not correct to keep them locked in zoos as works of exhibition, they are living beings and deserve to have their freedom.

Finally, if I were an animal, I would definitely be a dolphin because I could spend all my life in the ocean and it would be wonderful.
